I use the Internet quite a lot in my classroom and for home learning assignments. If your child does not have access to the Internet you need to let me know so that they may schedule to come in to my classroom before or after school to use the Internet. Another solution is to use the Internet connections provided at the public libraries or at Glades Middle School's library.

I also use the Internet for communication between parents, students and myself. I will try to read my mail every day, and at least every other day. Students may send me their homework in their e-mails and/or as attachments. Please see the e-mail page guidelines to e-mailing me.

Why do I use the Internet? First off, it makes available to everyone the most up to date research in science. NASA's online research alone, would warrant the active use of the Internet. A second reason to use the Internet would be access to "Real Time Data". This data allows students to gain knowledge of the world around them - outside of the classroom. "Real Time Data", such as US GS listings of when and where earthquakes occurred on any given day; or perhaps what Volcanoes in the world were active that day allows students information they can analyze just like real scientists. Up to date data and research is one of the important keys to science. A third aspect that the Internet provides is a chance for students to learn how to find out - if a web site's information is accurate or not. These particular skills are at a higher level of thinking and a very important skill for future citizens. Discerning what is real and what is wrong sometimes falls into shades of gray, and a scientists needs to look at the evidence and verify the evidence they are looking at to make his/her decision. This skill is important for all citizen's. For example, hopefully this skill of discerning truth and facility will be used as our country tries to select their leaders in the fall. Voters will need to tell what is hype and what is reality. Prayerfully your child will learn this skill in my class. Your child will also be using WEB QUEST sites for part of the home learning assignments. These are web sites were created by Educators on various topics they feel important. Also I will provided on this website the following:
