| 1. Students WILL use the Glades Middle School Agenda book to copy down all class work, homework and/or project assignments. 2. Students WILL turn in all class work, homework and projects NEAT, READBALE and ON TIME. 3. Student's work must be NEAT and READABLE. Any work that I cannot read WILL receive an "F". Work may be turned in typed. 4. Students WILL participate in ALL class discussions, "Paideia Seminars", activities, and lab investigations. It is EXPECTED that proper and civil conduct will be shown during the whole class period. This includes the raising of one's hand to speak during a discussion. 5. Students WILL be responsible for checking with their Team Captain and with their other teammates for any makeup assignments and for turning those assignments in within a week of the absence. Every day of an EXCUSED absence allows for an equal number of days to make up work. Do not expect the teacher to remind you of missing work. This is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. 6. Unexcused absences WILL receive an "F" for any missed day's work until the work is made up. All work can be made up. Labs maybe made up by writing a 2-page (1 page + front and back) report on the topic that the science lab was about. Check with your Team Captain or the teacher to make sure you have the right topic for the report. PLEASE remember that any absences MUST have a note from your parent. Refer to your agenda book for absentee procedures. 7. Students will be required to turn in at least three projects per grading period. All projects will have at least a two week advance notice; because of this I WILL NOT accept any late projects. All projects must be presented to the class with an oral presentation and a written report in a report folder. (See Project Guidelines for descriptions and due dates.) 8. The Following is a list of supplies you will be required to have for this class. (It is my suggestions to the parents that for now on you wait until the first week of school to see what teachers will require.) You will need : Four pocket folders, one for each grading periods, and three duo-tangs filled with loose-leaf paper or three thin spiral bound notebooks. The composition notebooks will be for the 1)Bell-Ringer/FCAT/Thinking Journal, 2) Class Notes & Lab Report Notebook, and 3) a Homework Notebook. You will a plastic bag with your name, period and class printed on it. This will be your LAB Materials Bag. The LAB Materials Bag will be kept in a Period Materials Box the class room, and it will be your responsibility to keep it filled through out the year. The Lab Material Bag should contain the following items: Color pencils or markers or crayons Vis-à-vis pens for overhead transparencies Glue bottle and glue sticks ( WE WILL USE A LOT OF THIS) Scissors Ruler with Metric Measurements Latex Gloves * when needed Safety Goggles for Chemical and Flames - can be purchased at Home Depot ** Your child will need this through out his stay at Glades Middle School. You will be required to have paper and at least two sharp pencils at all times. You have until September 10 to have all your supplies. 9. ALL class work must be neat and formatted correctly. Papers should have the following information on it: For the 6th Grade Gifted Science Class: FORMAT EXAMPLE Last name, first name. Little, Carlyn Subject Science (gifted) Grade Level/Class Period 6/3 **Class Identification # ** #26 (**The teacher will give this to you) For the Honors & the Honors Gifted Earth Space Science Class: FORMAT EXAMPLE Last name, first name. Little, Carlyn Subject H. Earth Space or H.G. Earth Space Grade Level/Class Period 7 or 8/3 **Class Identification # ** #26 (**The teacher will give this to you) PAPERS NOT PROPERLY HEADED WILL RECEIVE A GRADE CUT. |
